THE STORY
In 1985 Chic Coatings director Scott-Ashley studied decorating at Rockingham College in Yorkshire England,he was trained under Hedley Jackson a painstaking perfectionist in preparation and finishing in all aspects of decorating whilst also under going further training working with his father Denis a master craftsmen old school sign writer and fine home decorator in his decorating business,he was very much the same focused on quality finishes and no short cuts!
As a child Scott would watch and learn various painting techniques and other applied art methods from his late grand father artist Wilfred Wild a creative who produced facinating malleable stone forms for sculpting and decorative reliefs .
Undertaking more college training in Yorkshire England in the art of broken coloured effects wood graining and marbling.
Futher training in the 1990's developing more skills in the art of Venetian plaster, which was having a resurgence and gaining popularity with architects in europe and other parts the globe, once again being specified not only on classical architecture but contemporary too,Stucco Marmorino,Veneziano Grasello di calce,Intonachino,Scott is self trained in the almost lost art of Scagliola in 2006 he worked on the restoration of the Scagliola at the Westpac bank in George Street Sydney Australia.
Scott emigrated to Australia in 1997 from England after working several years in the Uk applying wallpapers,textured finishes,plaster and paint in its various forms working on hotels in London to Barcelona Spain and painting projects involving rope access at the world exposition,Expo 92 in Seville
Spain.
Drawing on inspration and recipes from his travel visiting different parts of the world seeing how different cultures blend and use this ancient medium material lime from Morroco Egypt North Africa and the Middle East India Italy Europe and Japan.
Constantly developing innovative decorative finishes recipes and blends one step ahead of the mainstream for our discerrning clients offering a truly bespoke tailor-made experience from concept to completion .
Over the past twenty years has devolped a large collection of 100% Natural lime marble venetian and decorative plasters along with contemporary blends with modern additives free of VOC's to enhance workabilty durability and proformance,we also create a durable forgiving synthectic range of polished plaster finishes for quick and easy application which are easy to repair and patch if damaged.
